A properly maintained instrument equates to successful learning. A common problem with all guitar/ukulele students everywhere is that their instruments aren't fully maintained to the best that they can be. Many guitars/ukuleles can be difficult  to play or enjoyed based on many different factors. To keep students enjoying their lessons, Andrea's Music Studio offers guitar/ukulele maintenance to all students. We recommend that strings be changed twice a year or about every six months to keep the instrument playing at optimal capacity. Students can leave their instrument after their lesson to be fixed/restrung and picked up within 24 hours. 

Symptoms of a unmaintained guitar/ukulele  

∙ Dead Strings (dull/thumpy sound) 

∙ Poor action (Strings are hard to push down on) 

∙ Poor intonation (strings aren't in tune across the fretboard) 

∙ Bad tuning keys (loose or broken tuning keys) 

Characteristics of a maintained guitar/ukulele 

∙ Bright clear sound 

∙ Easier to press on frets 

∙ Fully in tune when tuned to the nut of guitar. 

Here at Andrea's Music Studio we offer two packages to keep all our students playing and practicing their instrument  effectively, efficiently, and most importantly, with enthusiasm. 

Restringing 

Students can leave their guitar at the studio after their lesson or whenever convenient and be able to pick up their guitar  the next day the studio is open. Strings must be purchased by the student and accompany the guitar. 

Guitar Cost: $22 plus string cost. 

Ukulele Cost: $20 plus string cost. 

Basic Guitar Set-Up 

Students that have problems with their guitar can leave their guitar at the studio for a few days to have basic problems  fixed (intonation, action tuning key and bridge adjustments) along with restringing. If restringing, a new set of strings  must accompany the guitar. 

Guitar Set-Up Cost: $44 (additional cost if parts are needed) 

Teachers will also let parents of students or adult students know when their instruments should be fixed or restrung. 

The cost of maintenance will appear on your next studio invoice.

Packages and Pricing

1. Please note that all service prices DO NOT include the price of strings. You may: 

 a.  Purchase strings on your own and bring them in when dropping off your guitar or other stringed instrument 

 b. Purchase Optima Strings through Leon at the studio. (more info in Optima Strings section below)

2. A HARDWARE REPLACEMENT is usually followed by a RESTRING or FULL SET UP 

3. Guitars and other instruments left for service will not be returned until the invoice has been PAID IN FULL.
